Glattbrugg / Bern, Decmeber 15, 2021 – Air freight facilities at Zurich, Basel and Geneva airports, hundreds of lifting platforms and goods lifts for Swiss industry as well as car lifts for residential and commercial buildings throughout the country: when heavy loads need to be moved precisely and safely in Switzerland, this is mostly done by technology from Lödige. As a subsidiary of Lödige Industries, the internationally active specialist for logistics systems and lift solutions, Lödige (Schweiz) AG, based in Glattbrugg and Bern, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and continues to be on a growth path.
After many smaller projects, the order from the former Swissair for an air freight container facility at Zurich Airport in 1996 was the deciding factor for the foundation of a separate company in Glattbrugg. The aim was to carry out this and other projects with the necessary proximity to the customer and to serve the Swiss market in a more targeted manner from then on. Initially, various other projects at Kloten Airport followed. At the same time, service contracts were concluded with the airport partners Gate Gourmet and Cargologic to ensure the smooth operation of the facilities. The team was continuously increased from three employees in the beginning to around 20 employees at first.
At the same time, Lödige (Schweiz) AG expanded its portfolio to include goods lifts and scissor lifts, of which more than 350 units have been put into operation to date. Currently, a goods lift for transporting components weighing up to 20 tonnes is being assembled for Stadler Rail in Bussnang in order to optimise their production at the site.
Since the end of the 2000s, the area of car lifts, with which different parking levels can be reached in a space-saving way, has been added as a further focus. Especially in tight spaces or on slopes, the available space can be used in the best possible way. To date, Lödige has installed more than 150 of these car lifts in Switzerland.
With the opening of a service base in Bern in 2020 and currently 25 employees, Lödige plans to further expand its business in Switzerland. Stefan Jost, who took over the management of Lödige (Schweiz) AG in 2012, sums up: "We have made a reputation for ourselves over the years and have worked with many customers for a long time in a spirit of trust. The constantly increasing demands on logistics and production sites to optimise processes are leading to an increasing demand for high-quality and reliable solutions for storage and transport. Especially when space is limited, we offer our customers tailor-made solutions to realise projects without compromises and to make optimal use of the available space."
