The Field Controls Engineer will be part of the controls team that supports the company’s projects in the region, on field, with a range of activities including commissioning, service, and breakdowns.
Work Responsibilities
- Complete control system setup, pre-commissioning, and commissioning tasks, including starting and running checks.
- Troubleshoot systems (reading and analysing control logic, controller configuration, field wiring check and verification, etc.) & perform relevant root cause analysis at the site.
- Creation of the required technical documentation, including red mark up of drawings, updating the code to match the field requirements with comments etc.
- Possess the capacity to learn new things as needed to complete projects and stay current with new systems and technology.
- Understand client requirements including quality targets and implications on method of performing activities.
- Abide by customer standards, establish, and maintain positive working relationships with relevant business and their partnering teams and external parties.
- Be capable of proactively driving team performance on site and addressing areas for improvement before they impact team morale or the company brand.
- Possess the capacity to impart information to customer operations teams.
- Identify, define, and implement Field Service best practices, and be responsible for developing and implementing world-class Field Service standards in all aspects of work.
Technical Expertise Required
- SIMATIC S7-1200F, S7-1500F fail-safe PLC Systems and WinCC SCADA System. (S7-400 and S7-300 are an added advantage).
- Solid understanding of protocols like Profinet, Profibus, Telegrams & other protocols such as ASi, IO-Link, BACnet, etc.
- Experience or basics of Drives (VFDs) from Siemens / SEW is an added advantage.
- E-plan / AutoCAD Electrical skills are advantageous.
- Solid grasp of reading, understanding of electrical drawings.
- Experience in conducting Pre-FAT, FAT, and SAT Activities.
- Creation & understanding of Functional Design Specification Documents.
- Knowledge of installations and safe work with 400VAC & 24VAC/DC systems.
General Skills Required
- Around 2 to 5 years of experience in Controls Field with relevant education qualification.
- Experience in Material Handling System and ASRS system is advantageous.
- Be able to work in a single-person capacity and without supervision with a proactive attitude towards self-management, ensuring you are within key targets and goals.
- Previous experience in commissioning and or troubleshooting control systems for Siemens automation systems.
- Previous experience with Motion controls (VFD, Motor Starters, Encoders, etc.).
- Familiarity with range of field sensors.
- Excellent customer focus and good communication skills.
- Flexible attitude to travel; requirement to travel on short notice for emergency services & on extended planned commissioning roles in the Middle East and North Africa Region.
